HaleighLewis-Alamo

One of my younger brothers, Ammon, and I at the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas. This was taken with my Canon 70D. The edits on this picture were the brightness, contrast, shadows, and highlights.

Hi! My name is Haleigh Lewis. I’m a sophomore at BYU-Idaho. I’m from Cumming, Georgia, but my family recently moved to Houston, Texas. My major is in communications with an emphasis in video production. I hope to have my own video business where I film and edit events like weddings, travel, lifestyle, etc. Videography, video editing, photography, and travel are a few of my favorite things.

My experience with photography, image editing, and visual communication is mainly me experimenting and figuring it out on my own. My second semester here at BYU-Idaho I took COMM 130 Visual Media and learned a lot about the Adobe programs (mainly Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign). We did a few projects with editing images and I learned about the different tools in the Adobe programs. I also learned a lot about Photoshop at my job on my off track this last semester.

HaleighLewis-Schaffhausen

Schaffhausen, Switzerland | One of my favorite places! My family and I went to Europe this last summer and it was a great opportunity for many many pictures. This picture was taken with my iPhone 5s. Since we were traveling, a lot of my pictures were edited through Instagram. Adjustments: brightness, contrast, and just a little saturation. This place really is this beautiful!

HaleighLewis-NeuschwansteinCastle

Neuschwanstein Castle | I love this picture because this isn’t the usual view or angle you see of the castle. This is taken with my iPhone 5s and there are no edits on this picture.

HaleighLewis-Venice

Venice, Italy | This picture was taken with my iPhone 5s. There are no edits on this picture.

HaleighLewis-Cousins

I love this picture that I took this last Thanksgiving of my cute cousins! This was taken with my Canon 70D. Adjustments: brightness & contrast.

HaleighLewis-Family

This was also last Thanksgiving. My Canon 70D is on a tripod on self timer. I love the edit on this picture. Adjustments: brightness, contrast, and I love the sun flare.

These pictures are just a few of my favorite pictures I’ve taken recently. I’m so excited for this digital imaging class this semester to make my pictures even better!

Project 4: Montage

ImageDescription: A montage created by blending two images together and the use of typography.

Process: Program used: Adobe Photoshop

  1. Set background image to 11 x 8.5.
  2. I chose an older picture of my dad and I and adjusted the levels to make it a little brighter.
  3. I used the lasso tool, with the feather included, to make it look more blended on top of my background.
  4. I added a mask to the older photo and adjusted the opacity until it was just right.
  5. To the whole image, I made it less vibrant.
  6. I added two contrasting fonts and added an effect to the smaller font to make it stand out more.

Message: To show the love I have for my dad.

Audience: People who have a love for their fathers.

Top Thing Learned: Masking and blending.

Filter / Colorization used and where it was applied: I made the older photo brighter. The photo was dark so I adjusted the levels.

Color scheme and color names: Split complementary: Green, Blue, Red. The colors are faded.
